by | Sep 17, 2014 | news

Paying someone a compliment may not make them rich, yet, according to research it has the same effect on their brain as receiving a cash reward. But what’s just as interesting is that a compliment also has a positive effect on the person giving it. Here’s how:

IT MAKES YOU HAPPIER
It feels great to give compliments. When you truly feel that someone deserves a compliment and you give it to them, you become happier. If you think highly of others and express those feelings, it makes your positive thoughts stronger. Stronger positive thoughts mean more happiness for you.

IT BUILDS SELF-ESTEEM
A genuine compliment involves noticing the good in other people. As you become better at finding the positive in other people, you also get better at seeing positive things about yourself.

MAKE SOMEONE ELSE’S DAY AND THEY MIGHT MAKE YOURS
Of course, your compliment isn’t intended to make you feel better; it is supposed to make someone else feel better. But when you make the people around you happier, who knows what benefits you’ll receive in return?

Finally…
DON’T FORGET TO COMPLIMENT AND REWARD YOURSELF!
When was the last time you complimented yourself? If you decided to do something and you accomplished it, then you’re definitely worthy of a compliment and a reward. It will strengthen your self-esteem and make you feel good!
