Many of us use the new year as an opportunity to attempt extreme personal or professional makeovers.
However, the average person has so many other priorities that this type of goal is way too overwhelming – so eventually we give up and set it aside for next year. Again.
Here are some tips to help make it work this time:
Tip #1
Focus on one resolution, rather than several.
Tip #2
Set realistic, specific goals. Losing weight is not a specific goal. Losing 5 kilograms in 2 months would be.
Tip #3
Break your goal into steps and have a plan. Many people quit because the goal is too big and overwhelming.
Tip #4
Have an accountability buddy, someone close to you that you have to report to.
Tip #5
Celebrate your success between milestones. Don’t wait for the goal to be finally completed.
Tip #6
Build the steps toward your goal into your daily habits and thought patterns so it becomes a way of life.
Tip #7
Focus on the present. What’s the one thing you can do today, right now, towards your goal?
And finally, don’t take yourself so seriously. Have fun and laugh at yourself when you slip, but don’t let the slip hold you back from working at your goal.
