STEP 1: healthy eating

A realistic eating plan is one that is healthy, and should work for you any time, any place. You need to feel comfortable and it needs to be sustainable. It’s important not to sacrifice your life for your diet. A diet will feel overwhelming if you have to sacrifice everything you enjoy, so focus on drawing up a realistic, achievable eating plan that works for you. Instead of worrying about losing weight, concentrate on eating healthily. You’ll lose weight much faster.

As a guideline, Herbex has compiled an example of a healthy eating plan, designed for weight-loss for the average person. If you have any medical disorder, it is best to consult your doctor or dietician, before following any specific ‘diet’ or taking any slimming product. Also, our free slimming e-book goes into more detail about how to draw up your own eating plan.

The following sample menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner promotes healthy weight-loss

breakfast (1050 kJ)

The day begins with a 50 g bowl of Herbex Slimmers Cereal served with 180 ml of skim milk. You can add Herbex sweetener (or 1 tsp of sugar or honey) according to taste

OR

Herbex Slimmers Shake can be used as a meal. Add a fruit and 175 ml of fat-free yogurt to ensure you take in enough kilojules for a healthy meal.

snack (630 kJ)

Choose 1-2 tennis ball sized fruit

OR

The Herbex Slimmers Shake can be used as a snack. Use fat-free milk.

lunch (1200 kJ)

Have either a sandwich made with 2 slices of low GI or rye bread, a filling of 1/2 chicken breast or 1/2 tin of tuna and 1 tspn low fat mayo or 2 tspn fat free cottage cheese and 1/4 avocado

OR

Herbex Slimmers Shake can be used as a meal. Add a fruit and 175 ml of fat-free yogurt to ensure you take in enough kilojules for a healthy meal.

OR

A salad with 1/2 chicken breast or 1/2 tin of tuna, 1 cup of rice/pasta or 6 provita and 1 tspn low fat salad dressing or 1 tspn of olive oil and unlimited balsamic vinegar.

 

snack (630 kJ)

The Herbex Slimmers Shake can be used as a snack. Use fat-free milk.

dinner (1 550 kJ)

100 g of chicken/fish, 1 cup of rice/mashed potato/pasta or starchy veggies (such as butternut, peas or mealies) and veggies (raw or cooked).

 

NOTE: We do not recommend replacing more than 2 meals with Herbex Slimmer Shakes. It is important to include a wide range of variety of food from all food groups in your eating plan.
